The Third Party Therapy Podcast
Hi, welcome to the Third Party Therapy podcast, a bi-weekly podcast that brings the third party risk conversations to life. Helping you realise that no one has all the answers and everyone is looking for new ideas and solutions to challenges. Third Party Therapy is a series of informal interviews and discussions that looks to bring those conversations to life and give more people access to them. We’ll discuss key topics, to understand what worked well and what went wrong, what people struggle with and to bring in ideas from other industries too.
Mike Day is the host of Third Party Therapy, a podcast on third party risk management (TPRM), vendor risk and financial services regulation. He has spent over two decades working in procurement and third party risk across financial services, insurance, telecoms and professional services, and currently consults on TPRM.
About Mike
I got into TPRM early in my career, helping build one of the first global Supplier Risk Management programmes in response to new Federal Reserve requirements, and I've been working through the same underlying question ever since: how do you turn a regulatory requirement into something that actually works day to day, rather than just something that looks fine on paper? I've since built third party management programmes from scratch, rebuilt them to meet evolving PRA requirements, and led third party risk management across EMEA.

Why I Started Third Party Therapy
What keeps me interested in TPRM is honestly just curiosity — why processes that seem sound on paper so often don't hold up in practice, and how different industries and regulators keep arriving at the same problems from different directions. That's really why I started Third Party Therapy: to get more people talking about third party risk management, vendor risk and financial regulation outside the usual conference-room conversations.
The core aims of the podcast are to make these conversations accessible to more people, to support people coming into the profession and to bring cross industry experience together to help address key challenges. I hope you enjoy the conversations
